Festività Cinesi per il 2017/Chinese Holiday Schedule for 2017

Come ogni anno, il Consiglio di Stato cinese ha emesso una circolare in cui sono riportati i giorni festivi per l’anno successivo.

Ad un’occhiata superficiale, i giorni festivi sembrano molti, semplicemente perché sono unificati in 3 o 7 per volta…ma, in questi casi, i giorni “di troppo” vengono recuperati lavorando di sabato o domenica, così che i festivi totali sono solo 11.

Dato che i giorni di ferie che spettano ai lavoratori sono pochi, la maggior parte dei cinesi approfitta di questi giorni per tornare alle proprie città d’origine (soprattutto per il Capodanno cinese) o per viaggiare, quindi fare il turista in Cina in quei giorni significa fare fatica (o non trovare) biglietti per treni e aerei, stanze negli alberghi e tantissima ressa nei luoghi turistici. Quindi, se volete cercare di riuscire a visitare i posti più famosi senza rimanere imbottigliati nel flusso di persone che si muove tutto insieme, ecco le date da evitare nel 2017, anno del gallo.

- Capodanno (元旦, Yuándàn): 1° gennaio. Dato che il 1° gennaio 2017 cade di domenica, che di per sé è già festivo, ci sarà un weekend lungo che include anche lunedì 2.

- Capodanno cinese (春节, Chūnjié): dal 27 gennaio al 2 febbraio. I giorni effettivamente festivi sono dal 27 al 29 gennaio; dal 30 gennaio al 2 febbraio ci sono i cosiddetti “days of rest”, ovvero quei quattro giorni di cui due sono sabato e domenica e due sono i giorni da recuperare lavorando domenica 22 gennaio e sabato 4 febbraio. Il Capodanno cinese segna l’inizio del nuovo anno lunare ed è la principale festività, da passare in famiglia come il Natale per noi.

- Giorno della Pulizia delle Tombe (清明节, Qīngmíng jié): dal 2 al 4 aprile. Il giorno festivo è il 4 aprile e si recupera il giorno di “troppo” lavorando sabato 1° aprile.

- Festa dei Lavoratori (劳动节, Láodòng jié): si festeggia il 1° maggio, come nel resto del mondo. Poiché nel 2017 cade di lunedì, è considerato come weekend lungo.

- Festa delle Barche Drago (端午节, Duānwŭ jié): la festa in onore del poeta Qu Yuan si celebra dal 28 al 30 maggio. Si recupera lavorando sabato 27 maggio.

- Festa di Metà Autunno (中秋节, Zhōngqiū jié) e Festa Nazionale (国庆节, Guóqìng jié): la Festa di Metà Autunno nel 2017 cade il 4 ottobre, nel mezzo delle celebrazioni per la proclamazione della Repubblica Popolare, per cui ci saranno 8 giorni di vacanza, dal 1° all’8 ottobre. Si recupera il 30 settembre.

As every year, the Chinese State Council issued a notice to inform the population about the holidays’ schedule for the following year.

At first sight, festive days seem many because they are unified by 3 or 7…but, in these cases, some days will be made up working on Saturday or Sunday, so that the overall amount of festive days is 11.

Since the holidays for workers are few, most Chinese take advantage of these days to go back to their hometown (especially for Spring Festival) or to travel, so, travelling in China during those days means not finding train and flight tickets, hotel rooms and huge crowds in public places. So, if you want to actually visit places without being blocked in the crowd, these are the days to avoid in 2017, the cock year.

- New Year (元旦, Yuándàn): January 1^st. Since January 1^st 2017 is a Sunday, which already is a festive day, the long weekend will be prolonged to January 2^nd.

- Chinese New Year (春节, Chūnjié): from January 27^th to February 2^nd. The actual days are from January 27^th to 29^th, while days from January 30^th to February 2^nd are considered as days of rest, that are those four days that include a Saturday and Sunday and the two days to make up for by working on Sunday January 22^nd and Saturday February 4^th. Spring Festival marks the beginning of the new Lunar Year and it is the most important Chinese holiday, to spend with family, as we do in Christmas.

- Tomb Sweeping Day (清明节, Qīngmíng jié): from April 2^nd to 4^th. The festive day is April 4^th, while on Saturday April 1^st people will work to make up for April 3^rd.

- Workers’ Day (劳动节, Láodòng jié): it is an international holiday, celebrated on May 1^st. Since in 2017 it will be a Monday, it is considered as a long weekend.

- Dragon Boat Festival (端午节, Duānwŭ jié): the holiday to remember the poet Qu Yuan is celebrated from May 28^th to 30^th. Saturday 27^th May is working day.

- Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节, Zhōngqiū jié) and National Holiday (国庆节, Guóqìng jié): Mid-Autumn Festival in 2017 will be on October 4^th, in the middle of the National Holiday that remembers the establishment of the People’s Republic in 1949, so the holidays will be from October 1^st to 8^th. September 30^th will be a working day.

Il mio personale Calendario d’Avvento/My personal Advent Calendar

Domenica scorsa è iniziato l’Avvento, il periodo di preparazione al Natale.

Seguendo le tradizioni nordiche, per questo Avvento ho deciso di preparare il mio Calendario da condividere giorno per giorno a partire da oggi, 1° dicembre, forse perché considero speciale questo primo Natale di ritorno in Italia dopo 4 anni.

Quindi, per un po’ lascerò da parte i post sulla Cina e sui viaggi per questo conto alla rovescia fino al 25 dicembre.

Advent, the preparation period for Christmas started last Sunday.

Following from Northern Europe traditions, this year I decided to make my own Advent Calendar to share starting from today, December 1^st. I guess I decided to do so because I consider this first Christmas in Italy after four years pretty special.

So, I will leave aside my posts on China and travels to make this countdown to December 25^th.
